Are you looking to take your writing to the next level? Then entering our short story & poetry competition often provides the impetus to refine your work and boost your creativity and confidence.

Competition Rules

  • Youth and young adult letter writing: 7-15 years. (Theme: Dear Prime Minister...)
  • Youth and Young Adult Poetry Competition. (Theme: Never Say Can’t...)
  • Adult Poetry Competition. (The Coming of that Age)
  • Adult Short Story Competition: 16 and over (Theme: Something Greater than Success)
  • Short Stories: Maximum of 3000 words
  • Poetry: Maximum of 2 poems
  • Young Writers: Up to 1,000 words (for stories) or 30 lines (for poems)
  • Entries must be written in English.
  • Submit your work in a Word document (.doc or .docx) or PDF format.
  • Include the title of your work but do not include your name anywhere on the document (anonymous judging).
