Brief info
Yvonne Bailey-Smith was born in Jamaica. She migrated to London age 14 years-old. She works as a psychotherapist for the NHS and in private practice. This is Yvonne’s debut novel. Yvonne is currently is currently working with her editor Kerry-Ann Bentley on final structing and editing of her second novel – The Freedom of Birds, which is a sequel to The Day. Yvonne is passionate about doing her bit to give back and currently supports various Charities including; Water Aid, London Air Ambulance, her former primary school in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, a Gambian child’s education, Liberty, and more recently actively raising funds in support of the Jamaican families, so adversely affected by Hurricane Melissa. Yvonne is the mother of Author Zadie Smith, Actor, comedian, rapper and writer Ben Bailey-Smith aka Docbrown and lyricist, rapper and playwright and personal trainer, Luke Smith aka LucSkyz. She is also the proud grandmother of four.
